How I learned insulation in other people's attics
Before I started this business in 2017, I spent years doing upkeep for a property management company, crawling through attics and crawl spaces in rental homes all over the Oklahoma City area. That's where I learned insulation, mostly by fixing jobs someone else had rushed and then seeing, a few tenants later, what had held up and what hadn't.
Today we're based in Norman, and the people who call this Norman insulation contractor are homeowners, plus landlords and property managers who want the work explained in plain words. What I care about most is that you understand your own house when we leave. If you know why we sealed the gaps before we insulated, you'll make better choices about the next repair, and nobody will talk you into work you don't need.
What you can expect when we come out
You see your attic before we suggest anything
We show you what's in your attic or crawl space, how many inches are already up there and whether any of it is wet or full of droppings, and we explain it plainly before we suggest any work. Keeping up rental houses taught me to catch small problems early, so you hear about them before they get buried under new insulation.
Air sealing gets its own line on the estimate
Air sealing, which means closing the gaps around can lights, pipes and the attic hatch before insulating, keeps the new layer from fighting a draft. We list it as a separate line on our estimates so you can see what you're paying for and compare our numbers fairly with anyone else's.
The person who looks is the person who checks
I come out to look at every job myself, and a crew I've trained does the work, with me checking it before we call it done. Landlords and property managers get a clear write-up of what we found and what we did, ready to pass along to owners or tenants.
Permits are checked before work starts
Permit rules differ from city to city, so we check with that city's office before we start, and in Norman that's the city's Development Services Division, which handles permits and inspections. When a job calls for a permit, we pull it or walk you through getting one.
